Online & Friendly: Canadian social networking stats

A couple of weeks ago, we blogged about Canada's rising Internet usage, specifically with the older demographic. This week, Ipsos' released its most recent Canadian Interactive Reid Poll special feature on Social Networking. Once again, the numbers don't lie..

-60% of online Canadians use social networking
-86% of online Canadians aged 18-34 use social networking
-62% of online Canadians aged 35-52 use social networking
-43% of online Canadians aged 55+ use social networking
-1/3 use social networking daily

Facebook remains the dominant platform for social networking users, but Twitter and Linkedin posted huge gains in users between 2009 and 2011:

-Facebook: 86%
-Twitter: 19%
-LinkedIn: 14%
